How to Keep Your Artificial Grass Cool in the Summer

Posted: July 6, 2022

One common concern many people have when considering whether to invest in artificial grass – whether it’s for use at home, for landscaping the grounds around commercial premises or as a sports field – is that it might get unbearably hot in summer.

It’s not an unreasonable thing to worry about – after all, this was something of an issue in the early days of artificial grass, while people also assume that it’s made from some kind of plastic.

However, we’re here to reassure you that this is an issue you won’t come across much with Easigrass – and on the very rare occasion you do, it’s quick and easy to get it sorted!

Does artificial grass get hot in summer?

When you buy your artificial grass from Easigrass, you can rest easy. That’s because the triple yarn we use to make it, combined with the specially designed infill, means that it won’t get hot in summer and will stay comfortable to walk on. You certainly won’t notice too much difference from natural grass and it will be considerably more comfortable to walk on than hard surfaces such as paving, concrete and tiles.

Of course, in prolonged spells of intense summer heat – the sort we very rarely get here in the UK! – it is possible that it could get a little uncomfortable for children and pets. Alternatively, you may already have artificial grass that’s been manufactured by suppliers who aren’t using the same modern techniques that we do.

So what do you do then?

What can you do to cool artificial grass down if it does get hot?

Should you need to cool down your artificial grass, there are two main things you can do to cool it down:

  • Hose it down

A quick burst of cold water with a hose or sprinkler will do wonders. And if it’s really hot, you can have some fun by cooling yourself, your friends or your family the same way while you’re at it!

  • Introduce some shade

There are a number of ways you can put your grass out of the direct reach of the sun, and once you have it will very quickly get down to a more manageable temperature. Use things like parasols, umbrellas, awnings, canopies, a gazebo or even large plants to create shade over parts of your artificial lawn to keep it cool.
